Northern Europe 2019, day 12: Tallinn
Thursday morning—back to Kompressor for breakfast. It was even busier than the day before; we were lucky to get a table. Anna had the strawberry jam pancakes, I had blueberry and quark, and Casey had shrimp again.
Anne: Strawberry jam pancakes - now that’s a breakfast!
We took a walk around and headed to the old train station, which is now a shopping area. It’s located outside of the old town area.
A park that we passed along the way…
At the train station market. We bought some fresh pickles, cherries, and currants.
Anne: Nice market!
The produce looked amazing and super fresh!
Love the architecture; these supports remind me of turbines.
There were also some small shops that specialized in specific items; this is obviously a sausage shop. I peeked inside and there was an elderly lady up to her elbows in ground meat.
This is the actual name of the place!
Cheese, please! I didn’t even go in here…I would have been too tempted to buy something.
We took the long way back to the old town. This neighborhood looks like it was mostly built in the early 1900’s, with some of the buildings from the Soviet era and a few modern ones mixed in as well.
We walked through a park and Anna found a kid exerciser. The play structures were really cool; they were obviously modeled after gym equipment.
Anne: Fun and exercise at the same time - cool!
The wall around the old town…we were getting closer to our flat!
We had dinner at an Indian restaurant nearby. We sat on the deck, which was located on top of the restaurant.
Anne: Looks nice.
Anna waiting for her third tikka masala of our trip! Our experience at the restaurant was pretty funny…almost like a comedy sketch. Ask us to tell you about it! It’s too long to write about here.
Anne: Anna looks happy.
