Otaru: Seafood-landia
Otaru, being right on the water, is known for its seafood. Casey, being Casey, wanted lots of it. As we headed to the shopping area, Casey spotted a BBQ place that advertised grill-it-yourself seafood along with the traditional meat offerings (yakiniku). Anna and I wer both full from lunch, but we went along for the ride. They were getting ready to close so we promised to be quick. Unfortunately, they were out of the one item Casey really wanted —scallops— and the one thing I was interested in sharing—the asparagus. So, Casey ordered 4 large oysters for the grill, which was placed over burning hot Japanese charcoal. Anna was getting too warm, so she left for a nearby jelly soda stand. Casey and I kept cool by imbibing in more adult beverages: beer for him, lemon sour for me. Kampai again!
